Work Of A Yorkie Poo Breeder

By Janelle Burnett

Yorkie Poo dogs are a mixture of a Yorkshire Terrier and a teacup or miniature Poodle. A typical Yorkshire Poodle puppy goes for three hundred to six hundred dollars on average. You can buy these puppies from websites online, at local swap-meets, pet stores, or even from a breeder in front of a grocery store. But what all does a Yorkie Poo breeder have to do to run his/her business?

Naturally, they first have to buy the female and male dogs to breed with. They have two ways they could do this. The most popular is to buy a purebred Yorkshire Terrier and a purebred Poodle. The other way, of course, would be to buy two pure half Yorkshire Poodles. Either way could be costly, but worth it considering how much the puppies go for. If they buy puppies then they must wait for them to get old enough to breed, though they do have the option of buying adults. Of course, they need to choose a good tempered set of parents, so their babies will also be good tempered.

They also must feed and water the dogs and their babies, and train the adults to be good and obedient. Don't forget the facilities to hold all the dogs and their puppies, though that depends on how big their business is. A large business would need a large facility, most likely inside a home or building. Yorkshire Poodle pups are very small and vulnerable, thus they need protection from the outside elements. Although, some breeders may just have two breeding dogs that has puppies that they sell, as a small business.

In the latter case, they would need a good kennel area that is clean and healthy for many dogs. Most likely an inside facility, as Yorkie Poo dogs are inside lap dogs, because of their size and fragility. It would be safer for these pups inside, thus making it more time consuming and personal.

Full grown Yorkshire Poodle dogs don't weigh any more than 14 pounds. The dogs are people loving, energetic, and love to play and bark. They shed no to little hair, get along great with other animals, but will be lonely and depressed if they are alone too long. They are easy to teach, which is a great trait for a puppy. While Yorkshire and Poodle dogs were originally bred together as designer dogs, they make great pets for older children.

Because of this fact, the owner needs to spend lots of quality time with their attention loving dogs and puppies. As the dogs are also extremely active, the breeder also needs to give the puppies lots of time outside with their supervision.

The tiny, vulnerable puppies are attractive to predators, especially if the owner lives near the country, so they would need to keep an eye out when they gave the puppies time outside. They would also need to be beginning some of the pup's potty training, and that takes a lot of time as well. And don't forget that puppies need their shots, to stay healthy.

All this being said, being a Yorkie Poo breeder is a hard, time consuming job that requires a lot of personal effort. You must be a responsible person, for lots of little dogs are depending on you for survival. However, if the first paragraph telling how much these pups go for should show the motivation, it's totally worth the hard work and effort.
