Cats are cute especially kittens so it's no wonderful people fall in love with them. She puts the health of her cats and her own health in jeopardy when she has too many cats. These ladies do not start out just getting fifty cats, they slowly get cats and kittens over a period of time. Usually to make up for losing someone close to them because they are lonely without that person. Before they know it their cats have started mating and having kittens and then the amount of cats just keeps growing. A crazy cat lady tends to take it just a little too far.
Most of the time this problem stems from something much bigger such as a lose of a spouse or just being very lonely. Other times the ladies have mental conditions that cause them to start hoarding cats. Just like any hoarder they over do it and before they even realize it they are over run by cats.
A hoarder doesn't realize they have problems. Women that hoard cats or collect cats do it because they either do not have family and are all alone or feel like they are alone. It is difficult to do an intervention because most of these ladies do not have family and that is the whole reason they have cats.
When they have finally gotten to the point that the town refers to them as the crazy cat woman it means things have gotten really bad. The way these women live is dangerous for them and their cats. There is cat urine and feces through out the entire house. The male cats even spray the walls and whatever else they feel like spraying and that smell is awful.
They also reproduce quite often because they are not taken to be fixed so they number just keeps multiplying. Another issue is that once there are so many cats there is no way to afford to take them to the vet for check ups and shots which means that disease can be through out the entire house. The other cats get the disease and they start dying.
Just because the cats start dying due to disease doesn't mean the number of cats will go down because they will keep breeding. The crazy cat woman can also get sick because of all the cat urine and feces in the house. It is harmful to breathe that in everyday all day long. It will make you sick and make it hard for you to breath.
The cat owner can start to have difficultly breathing. She may even get parasites that start to grow in her body. Anyone spending that much time around feces and urine can catch all types of diseases. Dog pound and shelter workers wear surgical mask so they don't get sick when they clean the dog and cat cages.
If you are going to own cats you have to be responsible about it. Make sure that you do not have too many, you should not have more than you can afford to take care of. Always take them to be spayed or neutered and make sure they have all their shots and are kept up to date on their shots. You also want to make sure you train them to use a litter box and that you keep that litter box clean.
