By Chasity Sheppard

Any person looking to purchase a new family pet, particularly a dog, must take time to look at the different dog breeds as well as their various characteristics prior to making any decisions. This is extremely important if the home has small children or any other family pets in the home already. Those wanting to purchase a breed known to be very intelligent should consider purchasing registered Cavachon pups.

This breed in particular, is a unique mix of the oddball Bichon Frise and the ever so popular Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. They are the absolute perfect fit for people who live in apartments and need indoor pets. The fact that adult reach 30cm and do not shed is a bonus; but its the expressive eyes and sporty nature that makes these family pets a good choice.

A placid temperament, makes these wonderful canines easy to control particularly when taken for a walk. As they have a sociable nature, this dog will not do well with being left alone for prolonged periods of time. But all-in-all these characteristics mean that they adjust to other pets and the bonus is that they do get on with cats, which cannot be said for most other breeds.

Although they prefer being indoors, these pooches do enjoy family outings. But, it must be noted that unless they are being walked in an enclosed space, it is advised that they be on leash. Regardless of where one takes them these puppies are sure to brighten any persons day with their upbeat nature.

One will find puppies in a large variety of colors; most of which will differ in intensity. Black, apricot, mahogany, sable and red are all commonly found coloring; all will also have some touches of tan or white. Tricolored puppies may be found, but are in truth very rare; all these combined characteristics is the reason for the breeds growing popularity.

Depending on what coat type they have, it might be necessary to have them groomed and brush them on a regular basis; this said however, they are suited to any one who has an allergy to animal hair. This breed is sensitive to two conditions which can be prevented if paid attention to. Firstly their ears, need to be cleaned in order to prevent ear infections; and secondly they are susceptible to rotting teeth so these need to be cleaned regularly as well.

Any canine needs training to socialization them as well as teach them obedience while still in the puppy stage. This is where some warning must be given; as that Bichon Frise gene, means that your pooch may have a stubborn streak. However, due to their intelligence, with patience, firmness and persistence they will learn and all ones hard work will be worthwhile.

Of course, Cavachon pups, like any registered breed must always only be bought from a well-know breeder. It is up to each individual to firstly be completely sure that the chosen breed will suit their family unit and secondly, be confident that they are buying from a good breeding kennel. For a list of registered breeders and more information about this breed one can go online and search the various sites.
