General Information On A Goldendoodle Breeder

By Anita Ortega

Breeders are people who carefully mate specimens together in order to create specific qualities and characteristics in a breed. The goldendoodle breeder might be operating in several parts of the world. These people specialized in the crossbreeding of poodles and golden retrievers. Dogs are known for being popular pets as puppies and even when they mature to adulthood.

This dog was given its name circa 1990s. It is taken from the names of the two parent breeds: golden comes from the retriever and doodle is based n poodle. Different types of goldendoodles exist. In fact, there are even miniature ones. Breeders might specialize in a particular size, age or color when it comes to this breed.

The crossbreed has been around for a few decades. It came about during a time when breeders in Australia and North America were mating standard retrievers with poodles. The reason this was initially done was as a way to make guide dogs for people with visual impairments, who might also suffer with allergies. This is why these dogs are known as designer, a term that was once used to describe the purebred poodles that were being mixed with other purebreds to create an ideal breed that featured the hypoallergenic coat of the poodle and other traits from the other well-liked breed.

In general, the animal is bred to be a companion. These are considered good pets for families, especially those with people who have allergies. Some might prefer to get this as a pet while it is still young so they can enjoy its energy and playfulness, while still establishing a bond with the animal. These animals might be bred solely for assistance, therapy and guidance purposes, mostly for people with allergies.

There are a lot of different reasons why a person might choose this crossbreed. Sometimes it is because the person likes retrievers as a breed but would prefer a dog that does not shed has heavily. Not every goldendoodle has non-shedding properties associated with the standard poodle. Still, they will do less shedding than many other dogs. Beware that any breeders claim that this dog is hypoallergenic, but to date there is no solid proof to support this.

As the dog matures, it will become more obvious from what breed it takes most of its characteristics. When they are young, they are generally quite small in size. They may grow to become medium or standard size.

There are also miniature versions available. As is true of other crossbreeds, appearance will differ from dog to dog. They might come with a different color, coat and size. Curly, wavy and straight are the three most common types of coats with this breed.

People who have interest in owning these should do research on the breed and the breeder in advance. These are considered an ideal pet for any people, especially those who loves animals but suffer with allergies. The pricing, as well as availability, of the animals will range by location. People are encouraged to search to see what is offered in their area.
