General Information On Mi-Ki Puppies

By Anita Ortega

Mi-Ki is a dog breed. This tiny toy dog is believed to originate from Asia. It appeared in the United States around the 1980s. This animal is known as a common ancestor with Maltese, Japanese Chin and Papillon breeds. The name is pronounced as me-key. Many people who want these for a pet often get Mi-Ki puppies so that they can establish a bond with the pet as its owner and enjoy it while it is young and cute.

The dog has an apple-domed head. It has a short and wide muzzle, and a well-defined spot where the muzzle meets with the skull. Its eyes are set far apart, and large and round in shape and size. The nose is usually medium in size, flat and has wide nostrils. Typically it is black in color, but it might also be brown or another color for lighter dogs. The ears are considered mobile, as they can drop or become erect. These may also be feathered and the dogs are known for winging ears to show excitement.

These dogs are known for being calm and sweet natured. They are affectionate, have a low-to-moderate activity level and are intelligent. Generally they are alert and friendly creatures that make for excellent pets for handicapped people because of its laid-back behavior. It is known for not barking much, but there are some that will make a twittering or yodeling sound.

The breed loves being around people and is quite accepting of strangers. Overall, this animal is known to have an even temperament, which is another characteristic that makes it ideal as a guide animal. They are not considered aggressive and are rarely intimidated by other dogs. The adaptable animal is an ideal pet for many people.

The dogs make excellent pets for owners living in condos, apartments or other small spaces. This is because they can be easily trained and might even use a litter box. The animal is able to adjust to most climates, but still enjoys spending time outdoors to play or go on walks. It can also be quite happy and healthy having a small yard of its own to play in. A daily walk is suggested.

These animals are expected to live into their teens. They do not have many health problems. However, those with shorter muzzles are at high risk of respiratory issues. This is particularly true for older dogs. The teeth of the dogs require frequent cleaning. Mi-Kis usually have excessive hair growth between their toes, which can trap dirt. Having the feet and face of the dog shaved on a regular basis can make it easier to keep them healthy and clean.

Every dog is expected to be different. Although it is not in the nature of this breed to be aggressive or behave badly, the way in which the owner handles them can lead to behavioral problems. It is important that the owner remains a confident, firm and consistent leader for the dog.

When they are not permitted to serve as the leader of the pack to humans, they can develop issues. Some of the most common problems that might result from this: separation anxiety, destructiveness, guarding, barking at strangers, snapping and biting, and more. These issues are not specific to this breed. They can affect any kind if there is a lack of leadership from the owner.
