By Lila Berger

Saluki puppies have longer, fine feathered and soft coat. They are one of the oldest breeds of dogs having their ancestors way back during ancient times. They were taken as desert animals who lived with tribal people. They helped the people in hunting under the dry and hot conditions.

These animals are given high regards in Egypt. They were called as the royal dog of Egypt and their remains were even taken in tombs. Some Arabic nations believe that they are among those clean animals that can enter their homes which are mostly tents.

This breed was introduced first in European countries and reached the England shores. They are mostly of stunning appearance. They described as delicate, striking and graceful. Their appearance signifies their independence and strong temperament to perform the job they are tasked to do. They have narrow and long head with beautiful dark eyes.

It has profound ribcage to accommodate their lungs and ribs with long and really slender legs. All body parts are proportioned to display their most eminent grace and poise. They have the ability to withstand long distances. They are traditionally shy to those who are not used to deal with them.

You must not threaten the dogs with too loud screams and other unpleasing threats. You must encourage them not to be a shy brat.

The Salukis are healthy and strong animals that can be alive until fourteen years of age. There are a number of hereditary diseases that can greatly affect their health. As an owner, you must exercise these dogs to avoid excavating your backyard and garden into deep holes.

Saluki is a clean dog with little or no odor with reduced peeling because they have short coat. They must not be treated as outside pets because they will not tend to do well in that situation. They are not likely to drool except when thinking of food. They are easy to house train as they are indoor animals. As their master, you must train them not to knock down the furniture.

Saluki puppies can be choosy when it comes to their food but they are good eaters. They can easily consume their food. They will mostly eat and drink less compared to other breeds. They have less fat as well compared to other kinds. When they spayed, they can be fatter and their coat will be more fuzzy. With their lack of fat comes the disadvantage, they are mostly prone to anesthetic agents. This can be true to some if not all.
